  1. HA! The only books I can think of were the ones about the “latchkey child” which always seemed to be a term that was supposed to be uttered in hushed tones, like saying “that’s the child who’s brother has leukemia” or something.

    Obviously, those were books I remember from growing up, nothing I’ve seen recently. In the meantime, I am getting the impression that nowadays you are a bad parent if you let your children walk to school by themselves…
